10 New Social Skills for Success

Dr. Gary Epler – Knowledge skills are provided by AI programs. Soft skills for work and social skills for the home and the community are needed now more than ever.

Joan – What do you mean?

In the past, everyone learned knowledge facts in school. Now every known fact in the universe is instantly available. Therefore, people need to learn soft skills and social skills to succeed at making money, at their job, and in public.

We’ve talked about 30 of them in the past, and new ones are always needed. What’s the first new skill?

Let’s start with the most important lifelong skill (1) Always be your true authentic self.

What’s the meaning of being your true self?

This means think from the heart with kindness and giving. Use the mind to solve problems and help others. Eliminate all self-centered thoughts that cause stress so you can think from your heart and the mind. Remember, all those self-centered thoughts are from the stress center.

Be your authentic self. What’s another skill?

(2) Learn something new every day. For example, learn new applications of AI knowledge programs, learn a new sporting activity, or learn about unusual topics such as quantum physics, remote viewing, or even fashion.

Learn something new every day, what’s another one?

(3) No negative words or comments in conversations with your family, friends, or coworkers. Use positive stories or events with an occasional negative story with a happy ending. Negative comments in a business or retail conversation can lose customers and money. I’ll give you an example, someone at the cleaners makes a negative comment about you. You’ll never go back. They lose money, and if they drive away too many customers, they’ll go out of business. This happened in our neighborhood.

Positive conversations are the best. What are four more social skills?

(4) If you say something, do it. Otherwise don’t say it. If you’re going to meet at 5, meet at 5 not a 4:30 or 6:30.

(5) Don’t talk about anyone in a negative way. This destroys a conversation.

(6) Be patient with people while standing in line at the grocery store or at a restaurant.

(7) Drive with consideration of other people which means no honking at people trying to make a left turn, which is annoying and can be dangerous. No tailgating as unknown hazards can appear at any time. Be considerate of walkers, runners, and bikers.

Do what you say, no talking about people in a negative way, and drive with consideration of other people. What’s another skill?

(8) Healthy posture and walk with confidence. Use the rule of 5: Eyes forward, chin straight, head back, shoulders down, and squeeze the shoulder blades for a straight back. You feel great, and you look great! Walk with confidence and energy. If needed, walk 25% to 50% faster with no shuffling or slow trot.

Healthy posture and a confident walk look great. What’s another skill?

(9) Always dress well everywhere you go in something that makes you look good and something that makes you feel good. Dress your best. Wear something that won’t take away from who you are and give a negative look.

Always dress your best. What’s the last one?

(10) Use the mind. Learn how to slow down your brainwaves whenever you need to so you can use the mind to solve problems and help others. Eliminate self-centered thoughts so you can use the mind. Use the mind to be smarter. Use the mind to never be old. Age is a state of mind. Use the mind with courage and innovation to improve people’s lives.

Use the mind for helping others. Do You have any closing comments?

I have one more soft skill from a talk show host whose guest comedian said he had a new year’s resolution for the first time in many years. The comedian said, “make two trips.” You have groceries, books, or other things in your car. Take two trips to carry these in the house. It’s easier. You don’t drop anything, you don’t trip, and it’s healthier. To sum up new social skills, be your true authentic self, use AI programs, eliminate negative words and comments in conversations, always have a healthy posture and a confident walk, dress well, and use the mind to help others. Learn and use these soft skills and social skills for success at home and at work.
